The State Library of Iowa has been working on introducing librarians to a new website platform that has been made available by funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act.
So, what does that mean for the local library? It means that the Marchant Memorial Library in Scranton has officially launched a new, updated, and much more modern website.
Thankfully, the new platform to build our website is very user-friendly. “It has been a lot of fun starting from scratch and building a new website from the ground up,” said Wendy Johnson, Scranton library director. “A great function of this change is that the library’s website address hasn’t changed. If you had the website bookmarked or if it was a site that you visited often, that is fantastic news for you.”
“If you haven’t seen the library website before, now would be a good time to check it out,” urged Johnston. The address is www.scranton.lib.ia.us.
To utilize most of the library’s online resources you will need your library card number. If you don’t have your number, you can email from the website, call during library hours, or stop in. You can reserve books or movies directly from the website with your library card number as well.
“Explore the new website and then please let me know what you think. Are there features you would like to see added?” asked Johnson. “Let me know, and I will see what I can do. If you need help with the new website, stop at the library and we would be happy to help.
